The worst that can happen is you'll loose all access to the router and will have to reset to defaults by holding the reset button for 30 sec. If someone has a v1.x and wants to test it for me the feedback would be welcome. My only v1.0 WRT54G is in use so I can't test it right now. Getting this to work with WRT54G v1.x hardware is also possible but may require more tweaking. The hardware I used was a WRT54G v2 but it should work with all WRT54G models from v2 - v4 as well as all current WRT54GS models. I tested these instructions using DD-WRT v23 beta2 build but I believe it should work with the stable v22 as well. With the steps I've layed out in this tutorial your wired LAN clients should be just as safe from the Wireless network as they are from the WAN.Ģ) Simplicity - Don't let the size of this post discourage you! It may look overwhelming but the steps are quite easy! All configuration is done from the GUI so no command line knowledge required and it should only take a few minutes to complete all the steps!!ģ) Compatibility - These instructions support as many hardware versions & network configuration options as possible. Note that these instructions were written with the following priorities in mind:ġ) Security - There are ways to "seperate" the wireless clients from the wired clients without "breaking the bridge" by using just iptables but these methods can be bypassed by people who know what they are doing. OK sorry for the delay, I ran into a number of difficulties but think I finally got it worked out:
